Originally studied art in the 70s at Bideford Art College/North Devon College. and then on to Cornwall College of Art. Worked briefly as illustrator and have used my skills in many varied jobs ever since.
I am now 57, married and have twins, Archie and Amelia .. Bless Em!
Spent time in the 70s/80s playing suff in London & Birmigham. Lived in many squats during this period and played bass in many failed jazz/funk/fusion bands. In recent years I’ve started playing or rather murdering the acoustic guitar instead of the old bass. I have about 30 songs written so far, there are a couple of sad videos on Youtube under Al Brown.
I Have travelled independently to most places in the world over the years. Lived and worked in dubious countries including, Thailand, Bangkok, Hawaii, Paris, New York, Bali, Beijing, Hong Kong, Java etc. My wife and I particularly like SE Asia and Nepal. By the way Koh Samet used to be a wonderful Island.
Worked as a Beach Life Guard. At the North Devon Leisure Centre I worked as a swimming instructor, athletics coach and Gym Instructor.
In Hong Kong I worked as a movie extra in Kung Fu movies. As an english teacher to the Triads and in sales for the Marriot Hotel Asia.
Other jobs include draughtsman, production designer, musician, masseur, scaffolder, fine art dealer, worked for Hatton Garden Diamond Centre, security guard, barman, welder, job recruitment advisor, photographer, picture framer, illustrator, packaging designer, artist and enthusiastic beach bum to name the ones I can remember. Presently I am working for the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust as a Registered Nurse. I’m practicing in their operating theatres, specialising in Trauma & Elective Orthopaedic Surgery.
With a recent move to a larger home with space, I’ve returned to the drawing board enjoying the new found enthusiasm I had long lost for painting.
Still love playing the guitar and always have done!!!!
